Kamtek is part of Cosma International, a division of Magna International. We are the most diversified automotive supplier in the world. We design, develop and manufacture automotive systems, assemblies, modules and components, and engineer and assemble complete vehicles, primarily for sale to original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) of cars and light trucks in our three geographic segments – North America, Europe, and Rest of World (primarily Asia, South America and Africa). The Assembly Toolmaker is responsible for maintaining and troubleshooting assembly fixtures and performing preventative and predictive maintenance on all installed equipment to minimize downtime keeping safety as a priority. The toolmaker provides training and technical support to assembly and maintenance team members. The toolmaker is also responsible to lead and support installation and modification of equipment to ensure quality requirements are met. The toolmaker is responsible for continuous improvement of assembly lines and tooling. Daily review of dimensional status of production parts and taking corrective actions to improve any dimensional below set quality standards. Respond to production downtime in a timely and efficient manner to resolve any and all issues.
* Follow and enforce all plant safety rules and policies * Follow and comply with all safety plant standards including LOTO * Maintain assembly lines and other tooling to improve processes resulting in increased productivity and quality parts including assembly checking fixture * Tig and Mig welding and hand working parts of assembly line as needed * Establish and maintain communication with team members and other departments * Ensure spare parts requirements and maintain correct inventory levels * Maintain accurate documentation in MLS, PMs & equipment inspections * Recommend modifications to existing equipment to improve dimensional part issues, productivity and/or efficiency * Monitor spare parts requirements to continuously improve process * Maintain accurate documentation resulting in shared knowledge of issues and lessons learned * Train and support assembly team members to improve quality and productivity * Ensure equipment meets NEC, OSHA, and Magna regulations * Perform PM inspections as required, complete with all repairs * Minimize downtime by effective use of resources including response time, technical expertise, tools, spare parts and external contacts * Support continuous improvement and lean manufacturing processes * Understand and promote Magna's philosophies and Employee's Charter * Must understand and monitor weekly CMM Report for dimensional improvements * Promote good housekeeping * Perform other duties as required.
Knowledge and Education
* High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) * Associates Degree or equivalent from two years college or technical school or 5 years related experience or training or equivalent combination of education and experience. * Completion of a 4 year Tool & Die apprenticeship program.
Skills and Competencies
CORE COMPETENCIES * Must have ability to use all tool room equipment and measuring tools * Must have strong problem solving and troubleshooting skills * Must have a good understanding of assembly line operations and functions * Ability to weld and restore tooling to original condition * Must be willing to work extended or flexible hours as needed * Must have basic knowledge of drafting (blueprint reading, dimension drawings, etc.) * Must be adaptable to change and learn * Must be proficient with equipment and tools used such as lathes, mills, surface grinders, arc, mig and tig welders, basic hand tools, hand grinder, band and cut off saw, drill presses of all sizes, heat treat equipment, cranes and tow motors. COMMUNICATION SKILLS Ability to: * Read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, and governmental regulations. * Write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. * Effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customer, and the general public. * Receive and pass down information written and verbal MATHEMATICAL SKILLS Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations. REASONING ABILITY Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
Some of the physical demands for the position include being able to lift a weight of 40 pounds; frequent bending, stooping and stretching; being able to stand for prolonged periods of time; and ability to walk for prolonged period of time.
